So a couple months ago I had the Mustang at the Cars & Coffee show in Greensboro. For those of you that aren't aware its a free show thats sponsored by a local grocery store (at least in Greensboro) the third Saturday of every month. I like this show because its from 8:00 - 11:00am, free admission and you get to see a little bit of everything. No pressure, no insanely long awards ceremony. Come and go as you please. The times I have been have I've seen over 200 cars at each show. Everything from Ferrari's to completely custom race cars..
So during the show this guy comes up to me, gives me his card and says he works for a publishing company called Source Interlink and he wanted permission to snap a few photos of the Mustang. He said it was a nice driver that had an interesting look. He explained that it was a long shot, but he wanted to submit the photo's to a some of the magazines that Source Interlink owned and see if any one of them was interested. I told him "SURE!!" thinking that I would never see this guy again. Anyway, he snaps a few photos, takes my contact info and he's on his way.
So a few weeks ago, out of the blue, the photographer calls me. Turns out that Modified Mustangs and Fords wants to do a full spread on the ole' rig! I'm pretty excited about this. Even the wife.. who really couldn't care less about the Mustang, was excited.
So today I had the photo shoot. It was interesting to say the least. The photographer, Ron Crable (Wheelspin Illustrated) decided that the top floor of a parking garage in downtown Greensboro would provide the best venue. Even though it was in the high 30's, the lighting, according to Ron, was perfect.
My "interview" will be in the next few days. He said that it would take 3-6 months to show up in the magazine depending how much they have in the pipeline. Ron's a very knowledgeable person and a car guy through and through. Hopefully, I'll get to know him better, he's an encyclopedia of historical car knowledge.
The best part of the day was the ride home.. with the top down... in 35 degree weather. I had to do some moving shots and had the top down so I just left it down going home; With the heater on it wasn't bad at all. I got to rip-snort around going home.. gosh that car is fun to drive!
I managed to snap a few pics myself:

Awesome dude, I've won some pretty prestigious awards with mine, but I'll really feel accomplished if I can get it in a magazine like that. I have a couple one photo descriptions in a couple ones from car show coverage, but not a full write up.

2many,
When I first looked at their magazine, I'll be honest it was intimidating. Cuz my Mustang is not really that nice... but I do think it has a unique look, but It's far from a show queen, with scratches and a few dings here and there. From the pics I've seen of you ride, its MUCH nicer than mine (I think your Stang is one if nicest I've ever seen). I think this is one of those once in a life time things where you're in the right place at the right time and the guy that likes your look sees your car. In other words.. blind luck.
I'll keep everyone posted on how this goes. It's still not done until the mag is printed.
Thanks again!

Kelly,
I typically don't like car shows, but I really enjoy the Cars & Coffee events. You definitely should give it a shot. They've got a little bit of everything.. Muscle cars of all brands, tuners, old school hot rods, exotics and sometimes the occasional track car.
If you like cars, you'll like this show.

Man that is Totally Awesome Congratulations!! I wouldn't call it blind luck rather it was meant to be. You have a really hot lookin ride there with the body mods and I really like the stance(wheel fitment to body). I subscribe to Must. Monthly, Modified Must. and fords, Hot Rod. I also pick up issues if they interest me from other car mags. I definitely can't wait to see and read about your car in the upcoming issues. Again Congrats and Thank You for sharing your incredible story!
