Default Best way to clean rubber/wiring?

For example: The rubber seal on the steering column where it meets the firewall, or the wiring on the windshield wiper motor. I'm looking for something that won't dry these types of items out. Any help would be great.

i've always used WD40 to clean/degrease wiring. i havent tried it on rubber seal type items though.

it works extremely well on spark plug wires aswell.

Hand cleaner like GoJo on a shop rag works great for wiring, probably would for rubber as well.

This is how I cleaned my wiring harnesses. Works great, is fast, and doesn't harm the insulation.
