Default Problems with replacement motor mounts?

Anyone have any problems with replacement motor mounts? I replaced the drivers side because it was broken. The first replacement mount from npd was clearly warped where the mount sits on the frame causing the frame bolt holes to not line up. I went to napa and got a new mount and it went in like a charm. I decided to do the passenger side today. Went back to napa, got the part, took the old mount out and the holes don't line up for the long bolt on the frame side of the mount. It's like the engine isn't heavy enough to compress the mount enough for the holes to line up.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the tooling on these parts just hit or miss? Btw I trimmed the excess rubber on the mount on the side that contacts the frame and that helped the holes to almost line up but still no dice. Also I inspected that surface to ensure it was flat and it appeared to be. Thoughts?

I went through an ordeal too. I think my issue was with the odd ball 67 mount issue. I ended up having to modify the frame for the mounts to work.
But to answer your question, yes I went through I don't know how many anchor mounts before I found two decent ones. They're junk.

I had trouble with reproduction motor mounts of unknown brand before too.

I'm using RMP adjustable motor mounts, problem solved.

Use a long screwdriver to manipulate the holes to line up, I'm surprised you had one work correctly, your frame must be bent! I've done quite a few over the years and they never quite line up right. Never understood that.

I had to replace mine also. The 67/68 had something different about the mounts if I recall so I ordered it from GN.... worked fine but spendy.

The 67 has something different with the mounts and i've read the mounts are expensive to get. The 68 uses the same mount on both sides.

yeah the 67 289 and 68 vert 289 (plus a few others) unfortunately used the same mounts...so I got the pleasure of that experience...

There's a lot of really crap mounts out there, that don't really fit anything well. It's worse if you have a 67, or a convertible. Many sellers say they have that mount, but they don't. What they have is the regular mount, reboxed.
The G/N mount is moderately priced, considering the custom work it takes to create them. They fit perfectly, because they are patterned after the original C7ZE mount.

I'll repeat the link kd4pwh posted-

I was looking into getting this kit at CJ' Pony's.
Mustang Motor Mount Kit 289/302/351 11/1/1965-1972 | CJ Pony Parts
Is this a problem child
Or should I just get the RMP adjustable motor mount kit?
