if its a 10 bolt gm than its no stronger then the ford 8". the ford 9" is stronger than the gm 12 bolt and the reason chebby guys put a 9" in their hot rods.. the t/a rear also has a 4.75" bolt ciricle and the ford a 4.5" so 2 spares would be needed. other factors such as brake balance and drive shaft lenght and u-joint type will come into play. its a lost cause to put the gm 10 bolt in the mustang. i will tell my friend about this, he took the 10 bolt out of his 76 camaro and put a ford 9" in. he had the axles and drums redrilled for a 4.75" bolt pattern. he had to get a new drive shaft with a matching rear yoke.
