In all do respect, it is wise to always ask or know before purchasing anything if there are any restocking fee's. especially if you are concerned if the item will meet your expectations. Most companies have them but not all.
Not much else you can do but contact your credit card company to see if the time to fill a dispute regarding charges has elapsed.
Not sure why they guy did not want to at least discuss your concerns. Even though he expected he was going to have a dispute with you over the phone regardng the situation and the retocking charges, he could have at least been man enough to speak to you about. In the end, the result would have most likely been the same.
Chalk this up to experiance

Believe me, I can empithize with you and can appreciate your fristration. The common mustang vendors we all know and use clearly specify if something that is a special order and if it can either be returned or if a significant restocking fee applies.
These guys just are not what you would call known, let alone reputable given the experiance you have had. They most likely dont have the funds to issue a credit which is why you have not seen one.
Your fate is in the hands of your CC company. Them's you can fight. Otherwise, wait till the next swap or exhibit and approach them at that time. You may not get your money, but you might get it off your chest.
Good luck

Also with credit card companies, you usually have to wait 30 days before you can file a claim. Don't ask me why and it pisses me off but that's what visa usually does. Probably to give the other party a chance whether to pay back the money or not.

To the OP. No doubt you've been through a lot. In my experience the time spent fixing a relationship is almost always well spent. Does Nate know you got a jerk on the phone? Maybe yes maybe no but as the owner he might be more than interested in making it right I know I would be if it were my shop.

I absolutely love those businesses that are friendly and answer emails and the phone when they want your business, but treat you like this when there is an issue. Not answering the phone, telling you to stop phoning, or to F off, and not declaring their return policies are superior customer service skills that attract mega business, and are a shining example of how business should be conducted.
There's a difference between charging a restocking fee because you're returning something you didn't use or ordered by mistake than something you returned because it was not as described or misrepresented. You might want to contact YOUR state's consumer protection division (may be part of the attorney general) to find out what your rights are.

Agreed. If he got a restocking fee because he decided he didn't want those doors after all that'd be one thing. I returned some stuff to summit I decided not to use and ate a restocking fee -- fine. I think it's BS but whatever. However, the items he got are SIGNIFICANTLY different than described and what he wanted, so it's my opinion that no restocking fee should or could be charged.
I think you are right to pursue it OP.
