Default 67/68 Taillight panel brace

Just a simple question.... is the bottom of the taillight panel brace on a 67/68 coupe supposed to go in between the taillight panel and the trunk crossmember?

The ones on my 66 are spot welded to the taillight panel and the trunk floor, above the sub-frame rails.

The trunk brace should the same as the '65-'66 set up.
Here is our replacement to give an idea of what is there.

Yes, it goes in-between, and line-up the inverted U cut-out.

I realized I should have described the part a little better... the picture below is the piece I was meaning.

mjb1032, do you mean the inverted "U" on the bottom of this brace in the picture?

I'm assuming it lines up with the middle hole in the center of the taillight panel itself?

The key lock tang passes thru the oval hole.
And the gas fill passes thru the large hole.

My bad for not being descriptive enough again... I was meaning does the inverted "u" on the brace line up with the hole between the two inverted "u"s on the panel?
