Default speedo cable gear.

Guys,
I have a toploader tranny and i think this gear on the output shaft.
Mustang Speedometer Drive Gear 7-Tooth Black 4-Speed Toploader Transmission | CJ Pony Parts
I Will count teeth tonight .If it is what speedo gear do I need.
It looks like the po used the old 17T type 3 gear out of the old auto tranny. From what i can tell mine is a green tooth and is 17T and the type 3 and i can only find them listed for auto's.
This one is chewed up and the cable is cut off.
Thanks

what is your gear ratio and how tall of a tire are you running? both of those matter. then you calculate for which gear you need.

When I bought my 66 a month ago, the previous owner had an automatic gear in there instead of the manual. I bought the manual one (17 tooth white, not sure if its correct tooth count) but now have discovered since the wrong gear was in there, it messed up the other plastic gear inside the trans, so now I have to replace that one also.

This would look familiar, then.

The gear inside the transmission should be pink (6 teeth) or black (7 teeth). Pretty sure there are only two. Make sure you get the right gear for the cable, 4 spd vs auto. If you put an auto one in you will tear up the gear inside...not fun...ask me how I know....
