Tough decision but 1 vote for stripes. Looking at Jays66gt and GT350R Klone pic's sealed my decision. As for the stripes with or without rocker moulding, the pic of the white convert in the OP (original post) doesn't look bad to me but I'd go no rocker moulding.
I was in the same quandary as you when the body shop finished painting my car. I decided that stripes are easier to put than to take off (duh) so I decided no stripes, live with it for a couple of years then make my decision. Still with no stripes and very happy.

If you had done the stripes, what color would you have gone with?

You're killing me by bringing up all those memories! LOL I really didn't come to any decision about them. My interior is black. That was one possibility. I also thought of silver. I wanted something unique and the stripes just weren't doing it for me.

Ah I just went through the same thing for our 68. We decided not rocker panels with stripes and we covered up all the badging holes. Except the mustang on trunk lid
@Wheelsup351, I love that hillbilly look idea! Of course on the mud flaps they'd have to be that shiny, mirrored, trippy Mudflap Girl on em!
I've looked at dang knows how many more images and I've come down to keeping it as is. Keep the chrome rocker moldings and fender emblems. Wimbledon White and new black 'vert top coming this summer. And fix the driver's side seat rail, driver's side rear window crank, shifter (doesn't like to go in to park), brake light switch, etc...Gotta love these cars.
I can't wait for warm weather. Thank you everyone!
I did ask the kids earlier today and they chose without the stripes. I'd have thought they'd gone for them for the race car look but they too know the car doesn't go very fast.
I did an informal count of each person's choices up until now and here it is:
stripes/no rockers - 5
rockers/no stripes - 8
no rockers/no stripes - 2(sorta)
kitchen sink - 1
Oh and stopped by the shop today and they already have the emblems off and 'vert trim all off. It was nice to see it in there already after dropping it off Saturday. I can't wait.
Aslan's color helps him get away with no stripes and nothing on the side, I couldn't think of a color stripe that would really look like it belonged on there, it looks great the way it is. With whimbledon white, it can look too plain with no rocker panels, which I hate the rocker panels anyway. I always felt like my car was missing something, and the stripes just set it off I think. I would seriously consider removing the c scoop trim piece as well if you want to do stripes. Not much trouble since you are going through a full color swap anyway. I used the original style ford decals, you can always remove them if you don't like it without hurting the paint. I bought 2 sets so that I could go solid over the front fender. The first 2 pics are before the wheel swap I so desperately needed.

I like the stripes. Also would probably want to put shelby stripes b/c I look the look of them. I cant put them on the Boss or 69GT but if I get to the mach 1 I think they will be on them.
