I think the #1 wheels look like a vampire owns the car, and the #3 wheels in my opinion look like they should be on any mustang 1990 and newer.
The #2's still hold a vintage look with 17's without looking pimped.
I'm going to basically agree with this, but change 1990 to 1994.
I love my Magnum 500s, but if I were to get new wheel it would be V40, but V45 or TTD are a close second.

ding ding ding! My thoughts exactly. I love the soft lip on the coys, mine has them, but for essentially a gt350 clone, the ttd's i think will be the best. Unfortunately also the most expensive i think. What is nice about those too, you can always repaint the center, its super easy.

+1 In my opinion the car have a really tough and aggressive classic racing look now, that will disappear with modern skinny tires on big rims.
+2. I know opinions are just like a certain part of the body and everybody has one so here's mine: I can't stand the look of 17" and larger diameter rims on any classic muscle car from the 60's and 70's. I know you're facing a dilemna finding good tires in 14" sizes but at the most I'd go up only to 15". I have a set of 14" TTD look-alikes from some unkown manufacturer that will go on my '65 FB for a while. I'm sure I'll eventually move up to 15" but that's the limit!
16" wheels look perfect on the 65/66 cars, some Vintage Wheel Works V40 or V45's would look sweet. As mentioned earlier, you can always paint the spokes.

Then it would only have a tough agressive modern racing look, on wider, not skinnier tires and WHEELS. Sorry, rims are for ricers.

IMHO anything larger than 16" on a 65/66 looks too big, with 15" being ideal. But it's your car, do whatever floats your boat.

You guys are showing your age, lol. I remember listening to an old man at the shelby meet in tulsa one year cussing about a 70 with 18's. It was funny listening to him. The car was gorgeous.

It looks like you car is white, so gray and gun-metal will look different on a white car than say a black car. The gun-metal is going to look close to black because of the contrast and the gray will appear darker too. Since they all look similar with 5-spokes, I think your center color will be the most determining factor. Can you get wheel samples somewhere?

I have TT D's now so I know what that grey looks like and I like it a lot. Pic of my car as it sits now is on the first page. It's not that I don't like my wheels its just that I need new tires and I wanted something similar to my wheels but a bigger size. Don't make the D's in 17". Closest to them is the Classic TT II's.
Let's add one more to the mix. Someone mentioned Rev by American Racing I think. Here is the Rev 100 Anthracite grey in 17x7. Can't find any Mustangs with this wheel. I really like this one too. I think I would use my shorty center caps I have now....would look pretty good. Thoughts??
