I bought this parts car for dirt cheap. I have already pulled and used a couple of grand worth of parts from it, and incorporated them into my 1969 Sports Roof. The front disk spindles, power brake pedal support, several widgets, and a 1963 1\2 L 3.89 9 inch rear-end that originally came from a Fairlane. Aside from the parts that I have already used. It has no engine, trans, or wiring. The rest of the car is pretty solid. The previous owner installed new rear quarters before giving up on the project, due to his son joining the army. All other parts are there, and are in restorable condition. After the new garage gets underway this year, I was thinking of saving this thing instead of stripping it and sending it to the scrapper. It is a 1969 Grande 351 M code, 4spd car. What do you guy's think.

It's always nice to see another pony saved from the scrapper. Considering the parts you're missing, it sounds like a great candidate to swap in a late model drivetrain.
Oh, and if you're interested in offloading those steel wheels let me know.

I would keep it. make it like a street legal but race ready type car. you paint it yourself, have the interior all stripped out but make it look good. Like build it cheaply but do it right. Looks cool like you can just do whatever you want with it.. I think it would be an awesome project.

It's going to be a while before I get rid of them. I need them to move the car around. But, if you have some scrap rims and tires. I might sell them. I think these are 14" but would have to measure.

I was thinking the same thing. This would be a great learning car, for body work and paint. The rest of the parts are in my garage. The fenders, doors, floors, are all real solid. The interior parts need restoration but are accounted for. I can be patient and wait for a drive train to avail itself at a bargain price. I have done all the mechanical on my 69 fastback and 66 Ranchero. So I have that experience that would help.

I saved my old 65 coupe from the scrapper and made it a really nice ride, so yeah, keep it if at all possible. The 69/70 hardtops actually have a nice look when done up right.
If it were mine, I'd keep the car spartan and no-frills but with decent looking paint, no stripes, and a set of really cool 17" wheels and tires. Lowering the car slightly really adds to the stance of these hardtops, they really get aggressive. And with a low budget restomod approach, the sky is the limit with choices of engines, drivetrains, and interiors. If you get serious with the project, you might even consider a cheap donor car to help replace the missing parts, etc. Shouldn't be hard to find one, for example, that might have been rear ended, but has good front and interior parts.
I think a 1969 Grandé 351 M code, 4spd is an extremely rare bird. I have only seen 2 Grandé manual trans cars, and those were an L code and H code with 3-speeds. Your "parts car" is in much better shape that cars I see getting restored, and way more rare than a similar mach1.

I would keep/save it. Whether you redo it or allow someone else to, the bottom line is once they're ground up and sent to China they're gone forever.

I would build the mythical '69 California Special using the Shelby convertible trunk lid and tail light panel.

I would build a track ready street car out of it, then drive the wheels off of it and not worry about rock chips, etc........wait a minute, I already did that....

I have to get my act together and get a Marti report for this thing. I swear I cannot find any evidence that this car ever had a vinyl roof. The previous owner started sanding the entire car, and I cant find any holes wear the trim would attach for a vinyl top car. It came with the deluxe light teak interior, with 2 tone dark green hopsack and vinyl seats. I wonder what the original color was. The doors are not original to the car, so no data tag. Several different Grande badges inside and out. Does anyone know. Did they ever make a non-vinyl top Grande? I agree that it should not go to the scrapper like my wife would prefer, (title is clean and in my name). I also agree that it might be rare. It would make a great resto-mod. I bought the car for $1,000.00, 4 years ago. If I do 90% of the labor including body and paint, and budget 7-8k for the project, (resto-whetever) this might make a good investment. It would also give me experience and something to drive while my 69 sports roof undergoes a complete resto.

I would build the coupe version of this, even delete most of the interior.

Nice! 2many, I like the way you think. Did anyone ever see the over-hauling episode where Foose put fastback rear quarters on a 69 vert? I have been wondering what the fastback rear quarters would look like on a coupe, from the top of the door down.
