Vintage Mustang Watch

My Uncle was the Sales Manager at a Ford dealership back in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Many years ago, after he passed, my Aunt gave me this watch that belonged to him. I'm wondering if it was something Ford gave to their salesmen? Or maybe it was a Ford promotional piece?

On the back it says "Swiss Made - Base Metal Bezel - Stainless Steel Back". On the back of the band it says "Tropic Sport". No other markings on it.

65 GT coupe. 351W. Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, manifold, cam. Toploader. 9" with 3.70 trac-loc. 4 wheel discs. Leather seats. The actual car I learned to drive in over 45 years ago (except for the mods!).

from that link "Sometimes the watches were given out directly as special awards and promotions, such as with some of the Ford watches."

We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses

Yep, that seems to be the one! THANKS! Upon closer scrutiny, I now see that mine says "Old England" in very small black print on the bottom of crystal.

As a side note; Back in 65, the Uncle that the watch belonged to sold a brand new 65 GT coupe to his sister, one of my other aunts. That Aunt taught me to drive in the car back in 72. She passed in 84 and left the car to me. It's the one I now drive. I guess you could say it's been in the family since it arrived at the dealership!

Thanks again George.

I believe that these were also available for purchase from Ford "back then". Let me know if it's for sale.
