I got the heads up from a Junior collector in Minnesota and took the family out for Pizza today.
Pizza hut has a kids placemat that on one side has the history of Pizza Hut and the second thumbnail picture is a shot of a Mustang Junior. It is the one used in the first nation wide Pizza Hut ad in 1965 "Put Put into Pizza Hut" where the guy uses a Junior to get his take out order. They said it was a very succesful ad that got a lot of attention.

I still have not heard anything from the corporate office. Probably jut another request swept under the rug?

Is this a current placemat?

Sure did. Looks good. I think that I will try to paint my 66 myself.

The current issue of Mustang Monthly has a 4-page article with lots of images on Mustang juniors. I provided the information and images last year to Jim Smart and he gave the little cars a lot of exposure.

Just let me clear up a couple of things that were in the article! I do not own the 68 California Special on page 88 nor do I have a full size CS

The California Special was made using an original 1967 Mustang JR body that was heavily modified by D&S pedalcar. I have the 1965-66 molds but not the 67 You can see it bieng made in the background of this image

No thanks! Don't want to be a star! You did notice there were no pictures of me in the article! And anyone who has met me knows why?

I am very excited to see the size of the article. For many years the Junior cars have been a forgotten piece of Mustang history and I am glad that I can get them back into the forefront. This article will give them more exposure than years of traffic to my website. The most common comment that I got when showing my old 67 Mustang JR was "Did you make that?" And I am pretty sure that Jims6T6 (the current owner) still gets that question a lot? This article will help educate the masses that these cars are genuine Ford authorized vintage promotional tools.

I am very proud and happy to get the exposure for this obscure and rare sub-culture of Mustang collecting! But don't expect to see me on the red carpet anytime soon.

I forgot about this thread, lol. I want to make a golf cart sized 64.5-66 coupe, this is my plan, please chime in:

-Make a large block of styrofoam, by gluing sheets together, probably a block 3.5 wide by 6 long, and 3 tall.

-Using hot wire get the basic shape of the car, then fine tune it with a knife

-Cover it papermache and plaster, or maybe just plaster.

-Sand the plaster so the lines and body look good

-Lay down the fiber glass

-Sand the fiber glass, and then do the usual bondo/primer/paint

I made a video today with a bunch of Mustang JR images and some videos. Had to do something while the power was out during the storm. At least the battery on my laptop was fully charged

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPnsBeRRLn8

Regular users of the forum will recognize some of the pictures I used?

Cool video. I didn't know that the Mustang Jrs had working headlights and taillights. I want one even more after seeing that video. Come on lottery!

You forgot brake lights! and Horn

The 61 Thunderbird JR that I am building now has LED headlights and taillights for decreased current draw and heat generation so I can leave the lights on without running down the battery or warping the lenses. I have also considered putting a turn signal switch circuit in, It would not be difficult to do and I believe someone else on this thread is working on sequential brake lights for his Mustang.

I am also installing a 4-button remote for the following funtions
1. kill switch
2. Horn Honk
3. Lights flash
4. Undecided

I have considered a couple different options like underbody lights (but they are only good for nights) I would also like to install a radio but worry about running down the battery since it will only have a small one and no recharging circuit. But it would be nice to play "she'll have fun, fun, fun til her daddy takes the T-bird away" while my daughter drives it around!

PS. The Thunderbird also has an electric start 5.5 HP motor and forward reverse tranny
