Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but have owned many vintage mustangs throughout the years (I'm 55 and my first car was a 67). I currently don't have a mustang but have lots of mustang diecast and an original Ford Drag Club jacket that I got with the purchase of a 69 CJ 4spd Mach1 in 1985. It has been hanging in my closet since then and is in excellent condition. I bought the Mach1 from the original owner and he threw in the jacket from when his mom bought the car new for him in high school in 1968. I'm wondering what this jacket is worth as I haven't seen any for sale on ebay. If you have any idea of its worth let me know. I plan on selling it and would like to know a ballpark figure. Thanks.
That jacket does not appear to be a vintage piece from the 60s or 70s. I'd guess the jacket was manufactured close to the time you received it (mid 80s). The patches may be of an earlier vintage.
There are a lot of repro vintage jackets around. You can tell originals by 1. manufacturers label (although these can be transferred to a newer jacket) 2. material (certain materials such as the material of your jacket, were not around in the 60s) and 3. (perhaps the best identifier) zipper design. Original zippers with unique period tabs are very helpful in identifying old jackets. There were no plastic/nylon zippers in common use in the 60s and 70s.
I have some Ford promotional jackets from 1968 (tri-stripe detail but not the usual Cobra ones you see on eBay which are licensed repros) which had been taken home and tucked away in a cedar chest for 40 years.

I have one of the repro Cobra jackets. Would love to have one of the drag club jackets like the OP has.

Thanks for the info on the jacket. I have no idea what it's worth so I guess I'll put it on ebay and find out.
Post the ebay item # or a link in this thread would ya? I'm curious too.
Thanks
