Thanks Tommy! Come see me the next time you're in town. I dropped the block off this morning for the new cam bearings and also the cam so the machine shop could make sure all was good. I was out of town and didn't get back in until after closing time so it will be tomorrow before I can pick it up. I'm anxious to get the bottom end together.

Picked up the block with the cam installed this morning. Checked the end play on the cam shaft after torquing the thrust plate and the gear bolt to spec (10 lbs for the thrust plate and 45 lbs on the cam bolt). and came to right at .005". The cam spins freely now with my fingers. Feels much better than before.

Installed the pistons this afternoon. Initial measurement shows .008" down in the hole (with a feeler gauge). I installed the heads, first with the fel-pro head gaskets (which I will not be using) that are ~.047" thick. No touching anywhere. Took the heads off to see if there were any issues. Well the pistons just touch the protrusion between the valves.

With a .031" gasket, I would be ~12.5:1 compression. We'll see if that's possible.

I've been conversing with @silverblueBP and @patrickstapler about it all afternoon.

There's a game plan to alleviate the touching and then I will measure the valve clearance with clay...Of course, I have to buy the shaft rockers first, ouch!!

World Products Windsor Sr. They've had extensive work on them and they flow pretty good, or so I'm told.

@subpar63, I heard you had an intruder today. You better check your belongings and make sure everything's there...

...says the man with the wrong color heads.

Yes, had the pleasure of meeting subpar and his wife today while on the coast for a soccer tournament. Very wonderful family. Looking forward to having them visit the Northern portion of God’s Country.

You criticize the color of my heads while attending a soccer tournament? The only thing more un-American than Ford heads painted orange is soccer for God's sake...

Ah yes, i think i remember that from earlier in the thread. I were thinking they were World, but the valves looked bigger than mine (I have the Jrs on my other car).

Yes...had the pleasure of @patrickstapler and his son stopping by while down in the area. Just wished the fastback was down here so we could have hit some of these beautiful country back roads for some exercising. Another month and then I can start meeting the county Sheriffs

My wife and I are looking forward to exploring our new area and the southeast part of the country. We'll have to plan a get together so we can all meet up . He mentioned Jessie's in Magnolia Springs and that you'd buy ? ?

As I know, engine builds can get expensive. Do we need to start a gofundme for some proper pigmentation?

Again, thanks for stopping by Patrick, it was a pleasure meeting you and your son and look forward to more get togethers!
