Remember a little more than a year ago, I suggested that we go to a local drag strip some August/September night?
Well, with this stinking road construction down here (I live near I-80 and the stateline) I didn't bother to even bring it up. It would just take toooooo looonnnggg for anyone to get there. The choices being US 41 near Morocco In (NO tech inspection, plenty of runs, just 45 miles south of I-80) or Route 66 Dragway (NHRA anal type tech inspection, maybe, maybe 3-4 runs, yeah, maybe) just south of Joliet.
That is also why I never had my Shelby at any local shows north of 177th Street this year. Well, only 3 more years of construction to go. Maybe, yeah, the tollroad is going to start up too. I might as well move to Indianapolis...

I hate it too! I'm originally from Pittsburgh and never know how long it's going to take to go home to visit family. It can take anywhere from 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 hours and sometimes even longer. It's even worst coming back home to Chicago after already driving 8 hours. I also hate the fact that this is the first impression of Illinois my family gets when coming to visit us. Once they get through the construction, it's smooth sailing with 4 lanes, tolls (soon to be doubled), and 80mph between tolls ::. Pittsburgh folks ain't used to that .
Too bad you have to keep your Shelby down your way. We would sure love to see it around here.
