I am going to try! What time are the early birds getting there to get a spot? The earlier the better for me this Sunday. If some other members are going early please reply. Thanks

I will try to get there early if I can get out of bed!

early = 9:30 or 10:00 for me.

Hello all.

It looks like the rain is going to hold off until later this evening.

But I just found out that the JDF is holding a big charity walk in
pretty much the exact same place we were going to have our picnic today.

My cell phone number is 630-***-****.

We might have to pick a different place to meet.

I will try to go to the original location to see if there is anywhere
left to park.

If not, I am going to go farther south to Higgins Road, and look for
an open parking area down there.

There are a lot of picnic areas just to the south of Higgins inside the
last entrance on the west side of the park. (Numbers 17-25 on this map)
http://www.fpdcc.com/downloads/busse_woods_south_pg.pdf

That is where I will try if the original spot is filled up.

Please call me if you can't find me!

See you all there!

Abort, abort...

I have particapated in the JDF walk in the past - we don't want to be any where near there today. It is a total mad house for the JDF walk. We had to park off site and walk to the park.

I would suggest another weekend or another location for today.

Possible alternate locations - Blackwell or Herrick Lake. There is a car show at Scuddlebutt's in Downers Grove today from noon to 3:00, we could crash that party in mass...

Well left the house at 8:30 got up their at about 9:20 along with a couple thousand other people.I didnt have any way to contact anyone so I turned around. The cops were not letting anyone enter the woods for grove 28 and were stopping traffic on golf to allow people who parked in the Buisness park to cross the street. So I turned around and came home. The upside it was a beautiful morning to cruise in the BOSS for about 75 miles round trip.I want to get some money to Jason for him getting the permit for last weekend and taking time out of his day to get it( Jason please e-mail me your address [email protected]).I would also be willing to give a little extra for maybe next years picnic so we get a permit and dont have to worry about finding a place to have it that day(but the weather always plays a factor). Anyway I hope to make it to at least one or two club meetings this fall/winter to meet some more members. Thanks again to Jason for all the organizing he does and hopefully we will have better luck next time. Mike

Well - unfortunately it was too hard to get the word out to everyone
this morning, but we did find a good unused place to picnic on the south
side of Higgins road. All the JDF folks were up off of Golf Rd, so there was
nobody around higgins.

I told one of the traffic cops to direct all the old Mustangs to the Higgins
entrance, and it seems like he did catch most of the cars that went by there.

If you gave up without talking to them and went home - I apologize for not
finding out about the conflict sooner and getting the word out sooner.

For those of us who did find the meeting spot, thanks for coming out!

We had at least 15 cars, spouses, a handfull of kids, and good weather
for the majority of the day.

We saw the dark clouds coming around 3pm and everyone dispersed fairly fast.

I made it back as far as Naperville before the skies opened up. I now know
about all sorts of places where my car is less than water tight, and the
entire exterior of the car, undercarriage and all got very wet.

Here's to the weather forecasters who all said it would hold off till 8pm:

:chainsaw: :chainsaw: :chainsaw:

I got most of the water vacuumed out when I got home, and have a big window
fan sitting on the console blowing at full blast. :horror:

It was still worth it. Nice to see such a huge turnout!

I will post some photos ASAP.

We made it on to 53 going north just when it really hit. I just kept it between some white lines and putted along about 40-45. After a while Kevin looked up from his video game and said "Dad I can't see anything." We stopped at a gas station on rt.12 and waited for it to slow down a little. Then the rest of the way ome wasn't bad. Good thing I put new defroster ducts in this summer.

Looks like a great turnout, wish we could have made it. Had to install a new radiator in our new Mustang ('86).

Was a great day, luickily in our plan to leave early to go to a pumpkin patch wit hout neigbors and the kids paid off, got the Mach back in storage and just pulled the vert back in the garage 20 min before it started to rain.

I wish I'd stayed longer to meet more of the guys who showed up later, maybe at the winter one without cars will be good for meeting the group again!
