1968 BF42 Spark Plugs for 289, etc.

Is the correct BF42 spark plug the 3-ribbed, Star plug as pictured below or the 5-ribbed Powertip version? I read somewhere that the Star plugs went away sometime in 68 which means the 68's "should" have come with them.

Did this one stump the Concurs panel? Or isn't it a question worth asking? Wondered if it was worth changing out the 45's for the BF42's I just picked up.
