My car is temperamental and hates me!

So after rebuilding the transmission, replacing the old carburetor, getting a new battery, replacing the alternator, replacing all the old exhaust hanger, replacing the PCV valve, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the starter solenoid, and finally replacing the choke heating tube i thought I was finally done. I was wrong, when I went to start it up today (65 degrees and sunny here in Texas) the engine sounded extremely loud more then normal almost like a lawn mower as wall as when I put it it to gear or reverse it just died on me. Can anyone help me out on what could be wrong?

Sounding like a lawnmower makes me think that the EGR might be disconnected. However you also said you replaced the "choke heating tube" which makes me think you have mistakenly posted in the wrong section and don't have EGR. This section is for 1979-93 cars.
