Tuning trouble '79 fox

I have a 5.0 with a Holley carb on top of a Holley sniper high rise intake with a mildly aggressive cam. My issue is that my exhaust smells super rich and my preformance and spark plugs show a rich burn. My carb it set to roughly stock setting. What else can I troubleshoot should I take a closer look at my timing?

Research "how to re-jet a Holley."

You should find a link to site where you can input carb CFM, engine size, cam specs, etc. to recommend a jet size for the carb.

Just keep going down (leaner) in jet sizes by two sizes until satisfied...

Timing won't affect mixture.
