Mini Update!
I got a phone call from my lawyer last Thursday, 9-27-18.
He told me to get some updated quotes on the foundation. He needs to present them to the judge.
I assume that means that the other side is not appealing this case to the Michigan State Appeals court. Not that they really have a reason.

Ok. I am working on this. I have 1 quote down. A quote for $30,000.00.
Now I am trying to get more quotes.
Now that I am more knowledgeable, refining my searched to foundation contractors. I am finding some of the foundation contractors don't do flat work. Just the foundations.
Weird.
I have to just keep moving forward. One day I hope to see the end of this journey.

Flatwork is a skill and a craft when done properly. And very tough on the arms and knees. Dropping foundation forms in hole and setting them on a chalk line snapped by the one guy on the crew with a brain isn't. The shortage of skilled construction labor is reaching critical mass. The best flatwork is coming from south of the boarder.
Going on 2 years. I admire your perseverance.

I don't know if this has been covered or not but make sure your subs that you are getting quotes from recognize that this is or is going to be a site with disturbed soil due to the removal of the crap work. they may need to go deeper than standard frost depth with the bottom of footing elevation to get it on native undisturbed soil. this will help prevent settlement and cracking on your new garage and slab.

Minor Update.
The 21 day wait for them to appeal has passed. They did not file an appeal. My lawyer filed a motion for the judge to award damages in the amount of $46,000.00 plus change. Plus daily interest (I think 3.687%) until they pay it. The court date is 10-29-18.
Then it will be time to start the collection process.
We will see what happens in 10 days.

Sounds like positive progress, hope it works out in the end.

I have not yet heard from my lawyer. It is Halloween. I get it, people have kids.
I can only assume the judge is taking his time.
I will update everyone when I know something.
