Well I am telling you. I am not paying them ONE MORE CENT, for anything. Now that they are using twice as much cement.
By the time these folks are done pouring concrete in the WHOLE-A$$ footing forms they made. I will have 3 foot wide footings. I guess the foundation will be strong as hell. It is being made like a fortress. It might be Mongolian proof.
The crappy forms they made keep blowing out at the bottom.
I guess this garage is being built like a fortress.
I need to leave for a while. I just can't watch it anymore.

get in there and show them how it's done...then send them the bill

Clean up of debris, who is responsible, and to what extent, i.e. broom/rake and how often should be in every construction contract.

Set It For Pictures!

OR. Should I set it for pic's. I don't know. What do you folks think?

Set it for pictures!

You can print and hand pictures to a judge and he will look at them, playing videos for a judge is a lot less likely to happen. A judge will try to finish your case in 5 minutes, So I think it is much less likely for him to be willing to sit while you setup and play videos for him.

It is way better to have photos rather than running out of memory and missing something big this happened to me. My high definition security cameras used up 1 TB of memory and I couldn't see what happened the prior week. ):

A photo is better than a deleted video every time (:

8 gig is ok, but it is not large.

Set it for pictures.

I'm going to take some pic's this morning before I go to work. I will post them later tonight.
It will rain all day today. I doubt they will show up to work.
The back yard is a muddy, clay, pond.

You can always take stills or shots of video to get a "picture."

Pic's from this morning. Breakout your potato chips.
They broke off the Forms. They didn't fully remove most of the plywood.

In this pic. This corner is 2 1/2 inches higher than the opposite corner.

In this pic. This shows the front of the garage. It is supposed to be 6 inches lower for the 6 inch thick floor. 18 feet of this will have to be removed.

This is where 2 pours meet.

2 pour seem.

To be continued.

I spoke with the site manager today.
I do not know why they are continuing to try and fix this mess. If they just hire a engineer. He or She will tell them NO on the 2 pours. Then that will be all she wrote. That then means total tear out.
Instead they are moving ahead on trying to repair it. They still haven't contacted the city inspector.
Well I am giving them all the rope they want. The clock is ticking. They have 12 days to figure it out.
I am betting they don't figure it out.

Im no lawyer, but, My concern is that the city gave YOU 15 days. That dose not mean your relationship with the sub-contractor ends in 15 days.

Im NOT happy to tell you this,... and I think there work sucks,,,, but, my guess is: As far as they know they hit a small hiccup and they are still working on the project. they simply have not finished it yet.

I think,,, After the 15 days are up, the work should be re-assessed by an industry professional. At that point, I would notify them again of the deficiency and implore them to work diligently to the projects completion, perhaps add in a claim of breech of contract or state specific grievances. Then give them reasonable time to correct the breech and problem, I would think 15 days?. Most likely they will realize you are not going to pay for garbage and they will walk away. (monitor there progress with a Trail Camera perhaps?) Then you send them another letter adding belief of abandonment and your intent to take corrective action in 30 days. At that point I would be comfortable moving on.

I'm no lawyer but That is how I see it, (:

Hope someone chimes in and tells me I am all wrong about this.

I assume they are good people who just didn't know how to do this job, They are humans to so be as polite and understanding as you can, while still being firm. It is not worth getting mad over even as bad as it is to us. I have to think they were trying to do good but were in over there heads. They have feelings too, Personally I would be as nice as I could about it. They are probably already feeling like crap right now. and there pride is likely low.):

The legal system sucks for both parties, only the lawyers win. I would try to avoid it. I would ask a family member or friend to step in to work it out with them. Ask them to walk away and avoid a battle.

Eventually these guys will see they made some mistakes and have a loosing case.

Hope someone chimes in with better advise. Because it sucks to have 10,000 lbs of trash and be further behind then when you started ):

Hope you can start posting pics of cars in your new shop soon! (:

I wouldn't build a dollhouse on that foundation. Complete BS and they should have been fired long ago. It's your money and they are just stealing it from you. That's the ****tiest foundations I've ever seen. They have no clue, nor any reason to continue in the concrete business.

Really? Why don't you tell us what you think really deep down?

Words can't express how bad that really looks. At first when reading this thread I thought it was possible to get it done even though it wasn't the best looking footings I'd ever seen. But now after seeing the most recent photos I'm sorry to say it looks like a complete rip put and redo is the only way to roll.

I'm confused as to why deficiencies were pointed out and they aren't fixing them? If they can't leave the forms in the ground why did they ? Is think you'd be better off to take it out to them--the code--and show them they can't do that. Explain to them you're doing this for THEIR benefit to save them time and money later, and not that you're trying to be a pain in their arse.

No way in hell I would accept that crappy porous 3" second pour at the top of the foundation. Up here in the North East it wouldn't last one season, if that were saturated with water and saw a hard freeze it would turn to crumbly junk in a hurry. Without getting nasty with them, I would stay on them hard. The longer you let them drag this out (and the more money they throw at it) the less likely it seems you will get restitution.
