I know this isn't a 'bash' SAAC post but I had to add...I do own a legit 66 Shelby like the one in the pic..
I fit into the category of someone who landed ownership a "long time ago' when they weren't as valuable and I ended up getting it thru brute persistence and a father that alot of car guys wish they had...
(got the basket case 66' when I was 23...)
Anyway, I understand the sentiments by those put off by SAAC..I went to an SAAC convention in 99'. I was a legit owner but very young compared to the 'senior' owners. I went to the SAAC hotel dinner and listened to the SAAC brass talk about themselves like they were at the Oscars and they were Deniro and Pacino.
I was very put off because the convention seemed about them rather than the cars and comraderie.
I never went to another one. I'm very respectful of all the work they've done amassing the info..but it seems they keep it locked up to benefit themselves rather than the cars..

Well the upside is two fellas out there did what they could to try and save somebody's neat old car. Whether the car made it or not, I appreciate the extra effort and hope those two guys are OK.

When I first saw the photo I took it for what it was. 2 fireman doing a good deed (above the normal good deeds) trying to save that car.
Pretty sad if someone elses first thought was to look for identifying marks to see if it was a real Shelby.

SAAC had one job, and messed it up.

I have a 1968 Shelby, and I had 1 contact with SAAC, and determined that this was not the type of organization I would ever want my name associated with.

There are alot of people unaccounted for in the Paradise area around 800 last I heard with death tolls going up every time i hear the news.
Maybe it is more about people management than forest management. While a beautiful area to live in, it is a tinderbox every year and as we all can see, Paradise can turn into Hell on earth overnight.

Yeah, that's the whole state of Cali, one giant tinderbox. A few decades ago I wanted some land up in the Sierras, now I'm really glad I didn't do that, cuz just like Paradise, it was a matter of when, not if.
