Lokar has a nice setup if you want to get away from the factory linkage.

I've used the extension bracket and it works fine, depending on how far your carb is off from the factory location.

You could also cut and lengthen the factory rod to get it where it needs to be.

Nothing worthwhile is ever quick, cheap or easy, those that can't do, complain

My experience?
No kickdown lever needed.
Just manually down shift to 2nd when needed.
And make sure your vacuum modulator works properly.

+1 on the Lokar kickdown cable. Pretty easy set up and looks nice. I just bought a knockoff kit from eBay for my c6 for $23.
