New 1966 coupe I just started restoring.

Hi everyone. I just started restoring my wife’s 66 coupe 6cyl. It was sitting outside for over a decade, and the body work just got done. Now it’s back in our garage and I need to start on the mechanical bits, starting with the suspension. None of the old parts were salvageable, and I’m looking at some complete suspension kits, but none have the spindles. Anyone selling 6cyl spindles? Or are there upgrade recommendations since I’m starting from scratch? Only thing to keep in mind is that I need to retain the 4lug pattern. Thanks!

Welcome to VMF. What's wrong with the spindles on the car?

The shop that did the body work claimed none of the front suspension components except for the sway bar were salvageable.

Garage
Was it submerged? Only thing I've ever had to destroy a spindle was heat from a bearing failure

Also what's your location, would be beneficial to add it to your profile. Willing to bet there are a couple of users who have converted to 5 lug spindles who still have their old 4 lug ones kicking around.

I’m in southern Illinois near Carbondale. Thanks for all of the help so far. As to what went wrong, the car was in mud for a decade, so I believe the shop when they say those were toast.

I can't PM other users yet - I think it's because my account is brand new. I'll check with the admins.

No problem, what's your zip? You know that the box will be quite heavy. I'd have to get an idea how heavy and we'll go from there.

If you're needing everything, it could get real heavy. Have you looked in your area for parts by chance?

Also, have you actually looked at the suspension, it might only look bad, might not be as bad as it looks. I've cleaned up some pretty rough looking stuff.

Carterville Illinois, 62918. I still have some oddball parts that are usable, but CJPony offers a kit with everything except the spindles, and pricing separately without the few parts I need is about the same.

Do you think that's all you'll need are the spindles? If so, I'll have to dismantle everything to send them (upper and lower bjs, drums), should be worth $25 plus shipping.

Let me know.

sounds great, pm me with Payment instructions (PayPal or whatever)and I’ll see if I can reply; I still can’t send PMs. And yes, just the spindles please.
