My number 1 dream car is right down the road ,4 blocks from my house. 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible. Sitting for the last 5 yrs that I know of with boxes on top. The car is missing the orig hubcaps and the timing chain is bad. Car is straight and in good shape. Now he put his house up for sale and is moving.

He will not sell it nor will he get it running.Shame ........Shame.

I know of 3 of us in town that have offered to purchase. No deal!

Sounds like you're decribing me...only add another 7 years to that number. But times have changed. I'm getting her back onto the road.

You do have a point. But he drives for Walmart and the termial based here in town is sellling to Target and Walmart is opening up two new depo's in Portland. As a driver he most likely needs to move closer.

BUT HE IS TAKING MY DREAM WITH HIM! DANG!

Just go up with a wadd of cash and ask him again. A big wadd 100 dollar bill in wour hand will usually shange anyones mind.

He has been offered 50 of them $1000.00 dollar bills and it did not shake him. He might use that $100 to blow his nose and hand it back.

Well for a car that is potentially worth ~$200k restored, if it's as decent as you say it's not surprising that $50k wouldn't buy it even though it needs work. Here's one in Tacoma - if you really want one. :p

Oh, and btw $1k bills are no longer printed.

I broke open the kids monopoly game and copied the $1000.00 out of there. So yes they are being made. :p

Play money for dream car. I have no money my kid takes it all.

I figured since I am not able to afford a real one that I will turn Dean's 67 conv into a GT350 down the road. I have purchased 80% of all the parts as I can afford them.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. When I hit the lottery then I will run out and purchase one.

Little off subject...But the 68 Shelby Vert was always my dream car too... But over time, I think the 69-70 has really started to make me rethink that! I wish I'd have thought that way about 3 years ago when one could still be had for reasonable money.....
