Convertible engine/tranny rebuild

I took a break from my fastback to over the past two weeks to rebuild the engine and tranny in my convertible.

We pulled the engine and tranny two weekends ago. Surprisingly, it looks like the engine had never been out of the car after 134k miles. This was evidenced by all of the original parts all being date code correct for the car, the fact there were no exhaust manifold gaskets, and the engine was still standard bore.

While we were waiting for the engine and tranny to be rebuilt, I spent a few days and evenings after work cleaning up 30 years of dirt, grime, and oil off of the engine compartment. Once cleaned, a few coats of black were sprayed. It won't be a show winner but will certainly look much better than it did before.

We installed the engine and tranny on Thursday night and hooked up the drive shaft, etc. It was a tight fit getting it set in as we kept the A/C compressor still hooked up and had to manuever around the hoses. Still have to put in the radiator, fan, shround, hook up all the hoses, install carb, etc. But I think it should be running in a few days.
