What things on a classic Mustang make you go, "uh oh". when you see someone else's car or one that's for sale? Some things are indicators that the owner just doesn't know or doesn't care.
Perhaps the biggest thing I see a lot on other classic cars is dangerous/haphazard fuel routing. I see plastic fuel filters, fuel lines running too close to heat sources, flexible fuel hose from the pump to the carb, etc, etc.
* Cut dashes for stereos, no matter how cool the stereo unless the rest of the dash is modern. Modern stereos with major blue lighting in an old school dash - sigh...
* Sorry guys and Kelly but Fox body seats
* generic looking aftermarket center consoles
* Visible speakers
Actually, just about ANY chrome. The thing about chrome, whether on wheels or engines, is that it has to be spotless to look good. And nothing of mine (except the wife's reputation, and come to think of it, that's not mine) is spotless!
When I was in high school the battery hold down broke on my 65 conv. I told my dad, and being old school, he comes down with one his belts. At first I thought I was in trouble...but he just used it to wrap around the battery. It was an effective albeit ugly battery tie down for 20 years.
Street sign floor pans.
V8 engine, four lug wheels.
New floor pans laid in place but not fastened to the car in any fashion. (A local car, I swear.)
Caliper hoses pretzeled because someone flipped the caliper the last brake job and didn't notice.
Shackles!
Air shocks!
Snow tires!
The really big distributor caps on a small block 60's anything.....screws or bolts jammed into vacuum lines...folded over vacuum line connectors....the fake testicles hanging from some part of the rear of the vehicle...colorful double plastic windshield wipers............house wire jam nut or the blade push type electrical connectors.....duct tape seat cover or convertible top "repair" job, silver or in color..............
Not using castle nuts and cotter pins for steering components and ball joints. Makes you wonder what other corners have been cut.
