NEW!!! Retrosound Detroit Model '64-'66

Subject: NEW Retrosound Detroit Model '64-'66

The guys from Retrosound has something new in the works... The radio is so new that its not on their website yet. Coming to a Mustang Vendor near you.

Retrosound's take on the Ford Mustang Factory 1966 AM/FM Radio. It of course fits any/all 1964-1966 Mustangs and 1964-1965 Falcons as well. They showed this at SEMA 2018 just this last month..

Retro Manufacturing Attending SEMA 2018 for 8th Consecutive Year - 12 Volt News - Fresh Industry News Since 199412 Volt News ? Fresh Industry News Since 1994

It's not exactly 100% accurate to an original Ford Mustang Factory 1966 AM/FM Radio, but it's about 85% I guess... I put a CAS USA-66 (No longer available) pic next to it for comparison... The first pic is the new Retrosound Radio.... The 2nd pic is the old CAS USA-66 (Discontinued)...from a few years ago..

It's still good to have another alternative as Retrosound is known for its reliabilty and vast options.....certainly a few cuts above the quality of a CAS USA-66 Radio...but some people have had no issues with the later made USA-66's..

Anyway, Thought that you would want to see what is coming down the pike... No Price has been mentioned as of yet...unfortunately...

The NEW Retrosound Detroit will also take advantage of Retrosounds famous "Colorforms" type Removable "Ford" Dial label to make it look more like the original AM/FM Tuning Radio Dial. I will upload some more pics...

Here is the latest Retrosound Detroit ad in the Latest December 2018 Issue of Mustang Monthly... Enjoy..

*Also Take Note that the Removable "Colorforms" Type Radio Tuner Label Decal is installed making the Radio "Look" more like the Original AM/FM 1966 Ford Radio with the Digital Screen subtly/stealthy in the background. Not Perfect, but Not too shabby...!! I just love NEW Products!! Still No idea of how much it will cost though... ) Tony K.

Thoughts?!?

I like it and will probably be getting one for my car shortly. Be interested to hear a review from anyone who has installed one.

Very interested to see the price. Looks better than my 1982-era "Mustang" cassette/AM/FM.

Thanks for passing along the info/pics!

"I’m not a fan of the the Ford on both the LCD and selector switch. "

Really!??

I'm the other way... I love it! It makes it look more like the Original Stock Ford AM/FM radio... Looks great to me... The LCD one is just a "colorforms type" label that you can remove...but the selector switch is permanent....

cobra94svt, Where did you get the $429.99 price from??!

Really - I donít like two labels. It doesnít look as original and looks cluttered. I am fine with the one on the selector switch. Great that the LCD label is removable.

I plan to install the stock radio in 66 hooked to the single speaker in the dash. Then I will run a separate system with two rear speakers and an amp fed by a Bluetooth receiver (no radio). Then I can stream from my phone and have some tunes when I want them. I will probably just listen to the engine/ exhaust most of the time though.

I just installed this last weekend. It's a Retrosound Hermosa ($280). It is Bluetooth capable and has a USB & AUX port. I have a 4x10" front speaker from Retrosound ($35) and two Pioneer 6x9"s in back from Best Buy ($80).

It also came with three of the tuner label decals. I have not tried any of those out yet.

Pics of the package tray. Holes cut out for the speakers and speaker cloth covering the top. I trimmed the cloth to cover the edges; in hindsight, it would have been better to leave it wrapped over the edges and glued to the bottom.

I was planning to get a dead stock radio, gut it, install, blah blah. I think instead I'm just going to get a bluetooth speaker and toss it in the backseat.

...but I'll watch this Retrosound unit. I'm open to options.
