68' GT grill vs non GT

I'm still on the lookout for a NOS grill for my 68' GT. I don't see a GT specific back portion (black aluminum) offered. Is the GT grill identical to the standard grill but with holes cut for fog light clearance? If so is there a template available for cutting a standard grill?

The standard and GT grilles were the same. The GT's added fog lights mounted on the face of the grille secured by brackets behind it.

Yes and no. The grills start the same, then the GT grill is cut for the fog lights. But that is not all. The GT grill is painted differently. It is very subtle. I believe the area inside of the chrome surround is painted a bluish black color but I donít remember the details. Similar color treatment was used in 65.

Hereís your template

Ok, found it

“Standard 68 grilles are semi-gloss black. GT 68 grilles are semi-gloss black outside of the large corral and inside the small corral, and a dark blue/gray semi-metallic, semi-gloss between the two corrals. The dark blue/gray is similar to the 67 grille except it is darker.”

Krylon semi gloss black works well for the outer color. For the inner color you can use the gun metal grey blue sold for then 65 grill.
