I'm planning to run stock 17 x 8 2002 mustang GT wheels on my 66 Coupe. I'm looking at 225/45 17 tires in front and 2:35/45 17 tires in the rear. Will this configuration work?
On my 65 coupe I am running 99-04 GT bullets, 1 inch spacers, and 235 45R17 tires all the way around and no clearance issues at all. I do have the Shelby drop, and 1 inch lowering springs front and back.
I'm not trying to throw rocks at anybody doing this, but how much do these adapters cost? Are you getting the wheels super cheap? You can get American Racing TT2's for around 150 bucks. No adapters needed. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/are-vn2157765/overview/
@MrFlash The wheels have a 5.72 inch backspace and fit with a 1 inch adapter. @Miguelito2.0 I bought a set of 4 adapters off of Amazon for $70 and my wheels I picked up used for $240 for all 4. So about $300 plus cost of tires.
I run 16x7x4.5 with a 1" adapter using 225/50/16 ,However with that backspacing you will need to roll and pull the fenders I also have 1.5-camber
this pic has 16x7x4.5 with 1" adapter front and 1.5" adapter rear ,Note the rear was a bit to wide
I've also run 16x7x4.5 with no adapter but that may require some UCA trimming
also 16x7x4.5 with 215/55/16
Common practice is to use 16x8x4.5 with 225/50/16
