Pushrod length sound accurate ?
Here's what I have;
1991 5.0 block decked .010
Flo Tek aluminum heads 158cc/58cc which use 5/16" pushrods & guideplates
Compressed thickness of head gasket is .045
B303 Cam .480 lift with 1.6 rockers
1.6 roller rockers
A local mechanic came over today with an adjustable pushrod tool and says 6" is the length pushrod I need...he determined this in less than 60 seconds without taking any of the cam specs into consideration.
Obviously I know little to nothing about this process but I watched a video in youtube "Push rod geometry for engines" which stressed sweating the details on gross valve lift in order to determine the exact length pushrod needed.
Just wondering/hoping someone who has a similar setup or has done this numerous times can tell me if a 6" pushrod sounds accurate ?
Flo Tek website says stock 5.0 pushrods, which are 6.272" can not be used with their heads.
