Another reason to change it is that I believe the owner of the red fastback one left the forum in a huff several years ago and hasn't returned but once that I have seen... Personally I would vote for the Rat Pack next up next - this forum needs more "patina" and that will get you the peoples car - the venerable coupe...

I've always wanted a fastback, but the longer I own my coupe, the more I don't know if I really want one anymore... but then I see a bullitt replica or GT350, then I want one again

Yep no difference than someone saying I own a 1964-1/2 Mustang.

Hmm- would it be easy to change the banner (actually just the car[s] and add like say the ride of the month- and that car goes up? then maybe you'd have all kinds of stang- changed monthly- + incentive to join and post. Just thinking out loud

It just needs a wimbledon white 65 coupe front and center. Maybe like this (Hope this is OK, just having fun with the logo)

So, a funny story about the VMF banner...

When the discussion came up about updating it, I submitted pics of my '66 (hardtop/coupe/whatever) and my hubby's gold '73 Mach. Hubby never posts here, but lives vicariously through me. :-)

His Mach now stares at me - and everyone else - every time I come to VMF. Now - I love that car, she's the good girl of the family while my coupe is a brat. But it's still funny, at least to me, that my own car got slighted for the banner but Ginger gets center stage. So maybe there is truth to the matter about fastbacks being favored by the powers that be...

Well, as I recall the header was a kind of quickie thing. People were asked to volunteer pictures of cars at certain angles. In hindsight because somebody at Autoguide was simply rubberstamping the design across several different forums at the time. One issue was getting pictures. If you think that's easy here, talk to Mr.PatrickStapler about what fun he has trying to get someone to be "Mustang of The Month". Not a task I envy.

My main issue with the header is and always has been that the VMF already had a logo. And it was a helluva lot better than a random cartoon font pulled out of a drawer. I actually really like 65 Pony's quickie sample he threw together about ten posts back.

Basically, if someone wants to step and make a cogent thread, maybe with a poll, stating the header could stand refreshing. Then put it in the complaint/suggestion forum. You have to ask Autoguide for this sort of thing.

Or if we'd rather just quibble about coupes and hardtops some more, I'm OK with that too.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news for the Hardtop and Ragtop lovers here but even Ford Motor Company agrees that the 2+2 is the King of the Hill. Watch this video which I shamelessly stole from vegasloki's thread "1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2 Commercial" thread. Pay particular attention beginning at about 2:10.

With my penchant for Mexican Food, I do find at my age, the "Air Extraction System" built in as a feature on my Fastback is a true gem!
