Points question

I asked a zone and they were clueless.

Trying to figure out what the diff is between these two points:

https://www.autozone.com/ignition-tu...62_510999_2695

https://www.autozone.com/ignition-tu...19388_652224_0

Both are recommended for my car.

Pointless to ask them at the counter. THe difference is the mounting. One has the holes closer to a straight line the other more in a curve. Would have to look at your old one to see which yours has.

Donít buy either of them. You need to buy Standard Motor Products Blue Streak points condenser and cap. Or Echlin.

To answer your question, the 1093 being straight is probably a replacement for OEM dual point mechanical advance (HiPo) distributors and the 1094 is for single point vacuum advance.

The straight mount point set might also be for a 6 cylinder distributor.

+1

Either buy at Rockauto.com online (SMP/BS) or your nearest NAPA (Echlin).....

I totally agree.

Don't buy "brand-x" points...or any ignition parts for that matter, Most are complete junk.

See here: Last Bottom Two sets.....8183V or 8183VT (Heavy Duty)

PS: Don't forget to use the Rockauto discount code for an extra 5% off....!!

Personally, I write down the part numbers of points, condenser, and cap...type them into Summit and order $100 worth of all of it. Probably get three to four tuneups worth and free shipping.

Patrick

BTW, the BS caps will be...BLUE. If you donít want that, I have found the MSD race caps to be just as well made with 100% copper contacts...and theyíre black.
