Question About Front Seats

These seats are currently in a 70 mustang. Are they truly 70 front seats or are they seats from another car. Need to make sure I order the proper upholstery.

Thanks

Shape looks right, sewing pattern looks right. Fabric is clearly not correct.
My money is correct seats and foam, upholstery shop covers.

I would do 2 things:

1) Pull them out, flip them over, and look for the Ford tag.

2) There is a Ford part, D7zz-69618c46-a, that Ford came out with the reinforce the seats due to breakage. I would check the seats for the recall item.

They appear to be '69 or '70 Mach 1 high back seats. The horizontal bars mimic the original Confortweave middle section of the seats. The '69 M1 seat had a release handle for the seat back about midway up the side of the seat back. On the '70 seats it was down low, almost to the bottom of the seat back. Unfortunately both of your photos have that part of the seat cut off. Is there a release lever at the bottom of each seat back?

They look like '70 Mach 1 seats to me. The "Standard" 70 seats are completely different. The 70 "Mach 1" Seats were High Back buckets like you have in your car...so you have '70 Mach 1 Seats in your car.

You have to order '70 "Mach 1" Seat Covers to get the right cut material. If you order just '70 seat covers.... They will be cut completely wrong for your seats and will not fit in 1000 years...

You can also use 1969 "Mach 1" Seat Covers as well if you happen to like those color patterns better. The simple difference between the '69 and '70 Mach 1 High Back Buckets was the mounting of the Seat Lever Release latch. 1969 had the Seat Lever Release latch in the middle side bolster of the Seats, and in 1970 the Seat Lever Release latch was moved to the Bottom Side Bolster of the Seat. The material/fabric cut and the Seat foam were identical between the two years.

Whomever owned your car previously..certainly wanted it to be a Plush ride!.....LOL Velour.....Galore!

If I were you...I would carefully remove the interior pieces and Seat Covers from your car as you replace them. There are quite a few out there that really like the Velour Look/Feel....! You could actually make a couple extra bucks probably...

Pretty confident 1970 Mustangs all received the same frames with different upholstery (standard/mach 1/grande).

1969 had different 2 different frames. Standards vs Mach 1 (low vs high back)

Yours look like 70s based upon the seat back release location.

Pretty confident that the '69/'70 Mach 1 "High Back" Seat frames were completely different from the "Standard" Upholstery Seat Frames as was the Foam and the cut of all the material (vinyl).

When did the 1970 use this pattern? Note the seat back release is low as previously mentioned

The 1969 seats had the latch higher up.

I would say that is a code 63B Fastback Luxury Interior.

It was used for the 1970 "Deluxe" Luxury Interior with "High Back" Seat option.

They were the "Deluxe" Luxury Interior Seat Covers.

66#3 is spot on. There was no "low back" seat frame in 1970. If someone has evidence that there was a low back in '70, I'll gladly be persuaded otherwise. The locking, low back seat frames were 68-69 only.
