66 Rear Quarter panel ornament stencil

I have a 66 Convertible that the last owner removed the rear quarter panel ornaments in an effort to make it look like a GT. I found an amazing NOS pair that I want to put back on. I've tried to see where the holes should be but without being 100% certain I don't want to wing it because the pain is in really good shape.

Does anyone have or know where I can find some type of stencil that tell you where to put the holes? I found one for the front fenders but I have not been able to find one for the rear.

This is my first post so, thanks in advance

Joe

There should be some evidence of the location of the original holes on the inside.

If you're going to replace the quarter trim pieces, you'll need to remove the interior quarter trim to install them anyway. You'll need to remove the back seat to get the trim panels off.

That is a pretty simple operation in a coupe. Can't say about a convertible.

I was hoping that there would be evidence on the inside but I have found nothing. I'm wondering if the rear QP's have been replaced and that they don't come with holes in them?

New quarters don't have the holes in them.

If you don't get the measurements I will go out tomorrow night and measure my 66. I am pulling them off of mine in the end as I don't like the look of them.

Are you aware that there was a factory option that eliminated those ornaments and replaced them with a pinstripe? I don't recall what the name of that option was but somebody will be along who knows.

Everything done to my 66 will be custom as me and the better 3/4 don't care about originality. It will have all kinds of stuff that many would say it doesn't need... But think of it this way if you lived in a house built in the 1800s would you take out the indoor plumbing, HVAC, electricity, insulation etc just to make it all original again? If it's a museum piece that's a different thing.

Thank you kindly, if you could take pictures, with something in the picture for scale I would greatly appreciate it.
