Hi all, this is my first post but I'm a long time lurker and have gotten tons of great info from this site, so thanks! I've read through countless wheel threads and looked at tons of pictures and have a pretty good feel for what I need but wanted to run it by the members here first. I'm looking at these wheels https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vxw-s244/ with 4.75 backspacing all around. I'm thinking 225-45-17 for the front and 245-45-17 for the rear probably BFG G-force comp for tires. My car is a 65 coupe with stock front suspension and 5 leaf stock height rear leafs. My front fenders are partially rolled from the PO as well. I currently am running 225-60-15 and 235-60-15 BFG Radial TAs without any rubbing, not sure of the backspace of the wheels though. Any advice would be great appreciated before I pull the trigger on these. Thanks!
Those wheels and tires should certainly work on a 65 hardtop! I have these https://www.summitracing.com/parts/are-vn2157866 American Racing TT-2's on my car with 225-45-17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires. They fit fine with stock suspension components, and fit with some work on my current lowered and modified suspension.
Thanks for the feedback! I love the stance on your mustang. I actually have 15’’ TT2s on my 65 now which is why I’m going with something a little different for the 17s. How do you like the Bridgestones?
I'm running 225/45/17(Got them for free) on my 05+ Bullitts using a 1.5" adapter making for 4.75BS with lots O room. If I was buying tires I'd go at least 235/45/17 or maybe 255/40/17 Squared
I know on my car I can't fit anything bigger than 225/45/17 at this time without modifying sheet metal. I had to do a little rubber mallet work on the left rear inner lip to clear even the 225's. My car is lowered 2 1/2 to 3 inches.

Well they’re all installed on the car and I thought I’d update the thread. I ended up with 225-45-17 on the front and they fit great. No rubbing so far and 235s probably would have been fine.
shouldn't be a problem
I"ve got mine staggered as well 7's & 8's
