Spare tire suggestion? 17" or 18"

I have a 64.5 mustang. 235/45/17 at every corner. Mustang Steve disc brakes. Need a recommendation for a spare tire that will clear my brakes. Can someone recommend a particular year of mustang that I might look to for a factory spare tire?

It clears my brakes and I'm running 6 piston caliper, 14" rotors. If you search around you can find it for around $200. I attached pics of it installed and in the trunk.

that is a great suggestion. Did not even know such a beast existed. If I want to cheap out and hit the local salvage yards, do you think most spare tires off of a GT would fit?

I don't think they came with spares, that's why it's sold separately. I think they had the space in the trunk but it was left empty.

Could I just get a regular tire and wheel off of a Mustang or will the offset be too screwed up? Or would this work?

You could, I just don't know what your brakes are like and what'll clear them. I like the kit because it comes with a jack, as well but up to you. You could buy a cheap steelie (essentially what that is) and use it, too.

I would think that you should be able to use any donut spare from whenever they started using 17" wheels as OE, ~2000 or so. Or a full sized spare from an Explorer or some Rangers up to around MY 2000. Also possibles are donuts from Lincolns, Mercury Marquis, Crown Vics, Hondas, Dodge cars or Lexus/Toyota all have they same bolt patterns but the center bore varies on some of them and might be too small. Most later model full sized spares will have too big an offset but their donuts can work.
If you want to go really cheap go to a junk yard and ask to try a few. Probably get a spare and a usable pinch weld scissor jack for under $25.

Check that though. The Explorers only had 15-16" wheels till after 2000, IIRC.
